Fitness Classes

ADULT GROUP CLASSES  (Note: not all classes are offered each semester. Check schedules above for current list of classes, or call the fitness office for further information)

Spinning
Find out what everyone's talking about. Climb hills, sprint breakaways and drill on technique all on a stationary bicycle. Beginners are welcome

Pilates
You’ll build core abdominal and back strength as well as proper alignment and end up with a lean, flexible, dancer-type body.

Low Impact Aerobics (L.I.A.)
LIA is a fun, motivating cardiovascular workout that drains fat from your body without stress to bones and joints. Finish the class with body firming exercise. 

Step & Sculpt
Get ready to jam! This full-body workout uses the revolutionary step, which increases the intensity while lessening the stress on your joints.

Hips Abs Thighs
Firm, tone and flatten your mid-section with a series of exercises specially designed to give you a sleek, fit look.

Sculpt & Stretch
A mat and yoga workout that not only jump starts your body, but also clears your mind so you can take on your day.

Body Toning
This strength training and body firming class blends weights and stretching to tone each part of your body.

Yoga
Yoga is a gentle yet powerful practice that allows you to stretch the limits of your body and mind.

Introduction to the world of movement. Through games and songs your child will be moving and laughing.

> Ballroom Dancing (Youth, Pre-Teen, Teen)
Learn the basics of the hottest trend in dancing - ballroom dancing.

> Circus Fit (2nd - 5th Grade)
This program is designed to put fun into fitness. From juggling to balancing, your child will be moving and having fun.

> Fitness 101  (Pre-Teen)
Need to lose 10-30 lbs? Just beginning to get into fitness?  A perfect mix of fitness training, nutritional information and support.  Build confidence, trim down and learn everything you need to get you the body you want.

> Hip Hop (Youth, Pre-Teen, Teen)
Dance like they do on MTV!!! Learn the latest dance-video moves while listening to your favorite hip-hop music.

> Karate & Tae Kwan Do (Youth, Pre-Teen, Teen)

>Musical Theater
Bring out the actor in your child with fun, creative musical theater.  Enjoy scene study, acting technique building and creative expression

Try the bike class that has revolutionized the fitness world.  Hit the hills and sprint the flats to your favorite music.

>Strength Training & Body Conditioning (Pre-Teen)
An introduction to fitness center strength training and fat burning machines. With a specially trained coach, you’ll learn how to safely and effectively use these machines to reach your fitness goals.
 
> Tap (K to 2nd grade)
Start dancing! Purchase tap shoes before the second class and click your way to a fun time.

> Yoga (Pre-Teen & Teen)
Learn how to de-stress from the frantic teen lifestyle with a technique that’s been de-stressing people for thousands of years. Tone and build self-confidence.

> Classical Ballet – American Style
Keep your ballet skills fresh with Claudio Sandoval. Claudio danced with the famed Dance Theater of Harlem for 7 years and is an expert in traditional Russian as well as neo-classical American technique. For boys: white T-shirt, black dance shorts and black or white ballet slippers. For girls: Hair up in a bun, pink ballet leotard, tights and slippers.
Pre-K Ballet: New Students must be age 3 by July 2005.

> Classical Ballet – Royal Academy Style
Paula Lau, Athena Cheng, Instructors

Learn poise, self-confidence and grace through ballet following the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus of safe and progressive training. Pink ballet leotard and pink ballet slippers are required. Hair must be away from the face. Paula Lau holds the R.A.D. Advanced Teacher Diploma and is currently an examiner of the Royal Academy of Dancing, as well as the Founder of the Hong Kong Ballet Company and ex-director of the Hong Kong Academy of Ballet. New Students must be age 4 by September 2004 and are tested on the first day of classes and placed into the class that’s best for them.
